Mischa Hooker

Image-empty-state.png

Mischa is especially involved in classical theatre with local companies. Some highlights include the roles of Dionysus in Euripides' Bacchae and Dogberry in Shakespeare's Much Ado about Nothing (Genesius Guild); Dr. Caius in Merry Wives of Windsor and Lussurioso in The Revenger's Tragedy (Prenzie Players); and Rev. Hale in The Crucible (Playcrafters). During the pandemic he has been involved in organizing and recording audio dramas for Genesius Guild Radio Productions (available through podcasting services everywhere), with classic material in a broader range, especially including material from the Provincetown Players, a group started by QCA locals Susan Glaspell and George Cram Cook — see the most recent episode for a short but evocative Eugene O'Neill script, "Fog" — no, really: check it out! When not on stage or in the recording booth, Mischa teaches in the Classics department at Augustana College, where he will be teaching a class on Greek tragedy in January. At Augie, you will also be able to see him this fall in an upcoming production of Macbeth. [Photo credit: Aimee Ford]
